MISSION STATEMENT

STATEMENT OF SERVICES

MIS primarily supports the College's administrative and business offices through direct computer workstation and server support. However, our placement within the administration of the College offers us the opportunity to assist all COE IT workers, coordinate with the University on behalf of the College, and centrally manage some College-wide IT projects. Specific services include, but are not limited to:

SERVICES TO THE COLLEGE AS A WHOLE

• Acts as the IT liaison between COE and other UF units
• Provides the College IT Security Manager (L2 ISM) (per UF IT Security Policy)
• Plans and coordinates college-wide IT projects
• Coordinates and administers various college-wide software site licenses
• Administers the COE web server and programs and supports its various dynamic elements (COE directory, calendar-of-events, content management system, etc)
• Provides services based upon the Annual Support Agreement (see http://www.eng.ufl.edu/mis/services/support.html) to contracting units
• Provides fee based technical support to contracting units

SERVICES TO THE COLLEGE’S BUSINESS AND ACADEMIC OFFICES

• Acts as an additional resource for UF enterprise reporting questions and concerns
• Generates and manages college-wide reports made available through enterprise reporting
• Provides and analyzes financial and academic data and produces reports
• Develops custom applications / databases as contracted for business or student data analysis

SERVICES TO ENGINEERING ADMINISTRATION

• Provides e-mail, calendar, web, and file server access and support
• Develops web applications for the Engineering website
• Supports the administration’s network and computer hardware infrastructure
• Troubleshoots application software problems and issues
• Network security and virus protection
• Develops database applications for research administration and accounting
