This error message results whenever communication between
the imaging server and workstation is not possible. Several
things can cause this:
Network troubles: If you have lost all network
connectivity (i.e. you cannot use Internet Explorer to browse
standard websites) you will be unable to image. Contact MIS at
392-9217.
Lost connectivity with the imaging server:
Occassionally, for unknown reasons, the workstation will simply
forget that it can connect with the imaging server. Most often
this can be corrected by rebooting the workstation and logging
in again. If, after the reboot, there are still problems, try
pinging the imaging server (open a Command Prompt and
type ping imagekx1). If you receive replies then
the imaging server is running and there is some other problem.
If you recieve Request timed out than there is a
problem with the server, see below.
Problems with the SPAENG accounts: These accounts
are used to login to the workstation and to gain remote access
to the imaging server. Occassionally the imaging server will
expire the password or lockout the account. You can test if
this is the problem by opening Windows Explorer and attempting
to browse the imaging server by typing the following in
the Address field: \\imagekx1 an
then double-clicking the SPAKofax share. If you receive
an error message or a login dialog box there is a problem with
the account... see below.
In case of imaging server or account troubles:
Periodically there are problems with the imaging servers that
are announced on the IMAGING-SPA-L and IMAGING-L lists that
cause these types of errors. Contact this list and see if
other units are experiencing similiar problems. Problems with
the server and the SPAENG accounts must be resolved by the
server operators at CNS (Eric Carey).
