MIS / Software Licenses / Microsoft Campus License Agreement / License Summary

Please keep in mind the following while using this software agreement:

  • Any computer owned by the University, regardless if the equipment has a decal or not and regardless of location, is covered by the agreement. If a sponsor purchased the computer and is loaning it to your department, the computer is not covered.
  • Operating systems are only upgrade-able. Computers must have been purchased with a Microsoft operating system to be eligible for OS upgrades through this license.
  • You should use the volume license keys supplied by the licensing website and not license keys you may have obtained by purchasing software through the Microsoft Select license agreement.
  • You are responsible for keeping the volume license keys secure. Do not distribute media and keys provided by this license to faculty, staff or students.
  • Software can be obtained through download on the licensing website or by purchasing media kits from the Select license (these media kits will work fine with the license keys provided through the agreement).
  • The license includes the following software.
    • Microsoft Office (all versions) (Access, Outlook, Word, Powerpoint, Publisher, and Excel).
    • Client Access Licenses (CALs) for Windows servers, Exchange, SMS, and Share Point.
    • Microsoft Windows (all versions).
  • The license DOES NOT INCLUDE the following:
    • server software
    • SQL server CALs
    • FrontPage
    • Visio
    • other Microsoft software
  • Work at home (WAH) provisions to consider:
    • If you receive a paycheck from UF you are eligible for WAH benefits of the license.
    • WAH benefits are for just that... working at home. Your department should consider the ramifications of issuing WAH software to non-exempt TEAMS / USPS staff.
    • It is our recommendation that you require employees using WAH benefits to purchase WAH media kits through the MS Select agreement. WAH media kits have license keys similar to full packaged product that require registration and single usage. This will protect the VLKs of the agreement.
