Paul Holloway, Elliot Douglas and Ranga Narayanan win UF-wide award for teaching and scholarship.

The University of Florida recognized outstanding faculty and advisors on Wednesday, April 8, at the annual Faculty Awards Banquet in Emerson Alumni Hall.

Sergei Shabanov, an associate professor in the mathematics department of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, won the university-wide teacher of the year award.

The university-wide adviser of the year awards went to Angeleah Browdyand Christine Holyoak from the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. Browdy is a lecturer and faculty advisor in Food Science and Human Nutrition. Holyoak is an advisor in the microbiology and cell science department.

The College of Engineering’s Paul Holloway was recognized as this year’s teacher/scholar award winner. Holloway is an Ellis D. Verink professor of materials science and engineering, distinguished professor and director of Microfabritech.

The Academy of Distinguished Teaching Scholars also inducted their newest members, including Elliot Douglas, Ranga Narayanan and Marianne Schmink. Douglas is an associate professor in the department of materials science and engineering in the College of Engineering. Narayanan, another professor in the department, is a Charles A. Stokes professor of chemical engineering. Schmink is a professor in the Center for Latin American Studies in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
