Dean Pramod Khargonekar has announced his resignation, effective in mid-2008. He will return to the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, where he looks forward to spending time in the classroom and his lab.

Dear Gator Engineers,

I have now been the dean of our College for nearly 6 ½ years. The College is in excellent shape in all respects. After considerable thought and reflection, I have decided that it is time for me to return to my faculty life of teaching and research. As of now, I expect to remain as dean for the remainder of this academic year. I will do everything possible to ensure a smooth transition to the new leadership for our College.

It has been an extraordinary privilege and a great honor to have served the College and the University in this key leadership position. For me, these emotions go much deeper into my heart as I am a graduate of our College and the University.

It is customary, in such announcements, to recount all the good things that have happened during one's leadership tenure. I will refrain from doing so. I would simply like to thank you for your thoughtful support over the last 6+ years. All our successes in research, education and service are due to your hard work and dedication to the College and the University. I have found great satisfaction and reward in my work as your dean, in large part due to your consistent and strong support for most of the major initiatives we have undertaken.

I look forward to working with you for the remaining months in office. I also look forward to working with you on collaborative research and educational activities of mutual interest for many years to come.

Best wishes,
