Eye on Engineering is an exciting, week-long, summer day camp for high school students. The program is designed to encourage interest and participation in science, math and engineering. Eye on Engineering exposes students to college life and encourages them to consider a career in engineering. Participants will take part in hands-on laboratory experiences, meet with practicing engineers, and engage in fun, learning-oriented activities. UF engineering students, who serve as camp counselors, provide positive role models for the younger students.

Applications will be accepted starting Feb. 1. Program information will be mailed to North Central Florida schools in early February or upon request. Applicants must complete the online application which includes a 100-word essay on "Why I Like Math and Science." A letter of recommendation from a math or science instructor, or a guidance counselor, is also required. The letter, which should address the student's interest and/or aptitude in math and science, should be mailed to:

Recommendation letters can also be submitted electronically to ess@eng.ufl.edu. Be sure to include the student's name, grade, school and the name of the camp the student is applying for. All application materials must be received by Friday, May 5, 2006, by 5 p.m. Only 30 applicants will be accepted into the Eye on Engineering program.
The cost for Eye on Engineering is $150, which covers expenses for five lunches, an Eye on Engineering t-shirt and supplies for team projects and experiments. Payment of this fee will be requested when participants are notified of their acceptance to Eye on Engineering, so please do not send any money with the application.
Note: A limited number of fee waivers are available. To request a waiver of fees, please send a written request that briefly outlines your circumstances to the address above.
