Transfer student mentors are hired by the college to provide academic and social support for new transfer students. Job responsibilities include interacting with students in person and via e-mail, speaking and presenting in front of large and small audiences, program/workshop planning and assistance, tutoring (upon request), attending monthly meetings, participating in college recruiting activities and some clerical work. Applicants must commit to working 10 hours bi-weekly for two semesters. For additional questions, please call (352) 392-0944.
The transfer mentor position is for a one-year academic period (Aug.-Dec. and Jan.-April). Interviews will be held in March to select six mentors. Those selected will be notified of the date and location of their training. Transfer mentors are paid minimum wage and will be scheduled for 5 hours/week.
