Summer Undergraduate Research at Florida – TBD for Summer 2025

Summer Undergraduate Research at Florida – TBD for Summer 2025

Dates TBD

The SURF program entails a 10-week Summer Undergraduate Research experience at the University of Florida strictly for students planning to enroll Ph.D. to UF.  Prospective Ph.D. students for the University of Florida for the fall 2026 term will be considered for SURF.  SURF is hosted by the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering for prospective engineering Ph.D. students.  SURF is also run-in collaboration with Engineering REU’s programs (Research Experience for Undergraduates). SURF can be open to other UF Colleges and campus REU if funding is in place.  Some non-engineering UF Colleges and Programs who have participated in the past for SURF include College of Pharmacy, REU Physics, REU Astronomy, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, College of Health and Human Performance.  SURF provides the opportunity to work with a premier faculty adviser and a senior Ph.D. student mentor or Postdoc mentor. Students will engage in research and spend in-depth time furthering their path to applying and enrolling in a Ph.D. program at the University of Florida. All participants will be eligible to receive preferred Ph.D. admission and fellowship offers provided they have a successful summer experience and maintain their level of high academic performance through the completion of their bachelor’s degree. All costs for SURF participants are paid by UF including a $6,000 summer stipend, UF Residence Hall, summer workshops, social events/activities, etc.

SURF 2025 is TBD.  Engineering REU’s will still take place in Summer 2025 per individual program requirements.
