Short Courses (CEUs/PDHs)

The UF EDGE program provides engineers the opportunity to take online non-credit short courses for professional development, and to earn CEUs/PDHs for continuing professional licensure. Online short courses are designed by Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering research faculty as a way for engineers in industry and the military to learn about emerging areas through short course instruction, without the obligation of regular homework assignments or exams.

For engineers seeking continuing education requirements for professional licensure, CEUs/PDHs can be earned based on the contact/participation hours of the individual short courses.  Short courses are typically between 5-10 hours of online instructional materials and have a brief multiple choice comprehension quiz at the end to verify general course material understanding. Short courses can be offered from any UF engineering department, and companies interested in areas of specific need for short course training of their engineering workforce can contact Dr. Pamela Dickrell, Director UF EDGE, for more information about structuring courses and/or finding faculty that may meet their online training needs.
