Abstract

Current forms of human-computer interaction are based on the controls found on earlier, more primitive machines: buttons, sliders and menus of items. Mobile devices with touch screens have led to more abstract variations, e.g. taps and swipes and Siri-style voice commands, but the underlying dynamic remains the same. The process is one of controlling machines, rather than conversing with partners in a cooperative task.
