{"id":559,"date":"2018-04-25T13:43:45","date_gmt":"2018-04-25T18:43:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.eng.ufl.edu\/facilities\/?page_id=559"},"modified":"2025-11-03T13:54:48","modified_gmt":"2025-11-03T17:54:48","slug":"work-order-vs-project-request","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.eng.ufl.edu\/facilities\/about\/work-order-vs-project-request\/","title":{"rendered":"Work Order vs. Project Request"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering<\/strong> <strong>Facilities Operations<\/strong> works closely with the University\u2019s two major facilities units:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.facilities.ufl.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Planning Design and Construction<\/a> (PD&amp;C) and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facilitiesservices.ufl.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Facilities Services<\/a>. PD&amp;C oversees new construction and renovation projects for the University. Facilities Services is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all existing facilities at the University, including buildings, utility infrastructure, and landscaping. Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering Facilities Operations acts as a liaison and extension of these units for college projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two systems that notify PD&amp;C and Facilities Services of requested projects and required repairs: Project Requests and Work Requests. Any faculty or staff member within the University is able to submit either of these requests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-size: 24pt\">Project Requests<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Project Request system should be used for the renovation of existing spaces that include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Painting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Finish upgrades<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Space reconfiguration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add\/remove walls<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add\/remove utilities including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Project Requests are routed to PD&amp;C. When a request is received, PD&amp;C will assign a project manager to assist you with planning and completing the project. For most minor projects (less than&nbsp;<em>$200,000<\/em>), PD&amp;C will assign the Director of Facilities Operations as the project manager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Submit a PD&amp;C Project Request <a href=\"https:\/\/pdc.ufl.edu\/current-projects\/request-a-project\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-size: 24pt\">Work Order Requests<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Work Request system should be used for repair and maintenance requests for existing buildings and infrastructure including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>HVAC repairs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Plumbing repairs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Electrical and lighting repairs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Custodial requests<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Work Requests are routed to Facilities Services.
