Dr. David Mazyck joined FLEX as the Director of Electronic Delivery of Gator Engineering (EDGE), the UF distance learning program for online engineering master’s degrees, certificates, and professional education courses, in September 2018. In this role, he is responsible for developing and delivering educational and workforce development programs targeted to Florida’s and the nation’s citizens and professional workforce. Dr. Mazyck works closely with faculty, a task force of industry advisors, and college faculty and administration to understand and serve industry needs in professional development.
Dr. Mazyck is a Professor of Environmental Engineering Sciences at the University of Florida. He has developed several technologies that have been commercialized through a small business started by him and supported by numerous NSF and EPA small business programs.
Dr. Mazyck has served as the Interim Associate Dean of the Graduate School, Director of the Graduate Minority Program, and Technical Area Lead for the NASA Environmental Systems Commercial Space Technology Center (ES CSTC). Additional appointments include an appointment by the World Coal Association (1 of 5 globally) to the United Nations to assist with a Global Treaty on Mercury and currently, he is an American Water Works Association Trustee for the Water Science Divisions assisting with the development and implementation of research to support clean water in North America.
Dr. Mazyck holds a Ph.D. from Penn State University in Environmental Engineering and a Ph.D. minor in Fuel Science.
