Extension & Outreach
The Florida Engineering Experiment Station Network, or FLEXNet, is the outreach and extension component of FLEXStation. It serves the State of Florida in strengthening and developing Florida’s high-tech industry and recruiting high-tech companies. These UF Innovation Stations will work closely with businesses, state and county officials, local councils and support organizations to meet the economic development and training needs across Florida.
FLEXNet serves as a gateway for Florida industry to consult with engineering faculty. “Professors of Practice” – with industry experience – can be deployed to regions on an as-needed basis. It also builds on efforts to encourage K-12 interest in STEM-related fields, and opens up talent pipelines between in-state employers and an increased number of engineering interns and graduates who are prepared to take a leadership role in an innovation-based economy.
