ICTSE researchers work in the multidisciplinary areas of cell and tissue engineering. ICTSE brings together investigators from several departments within the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering, from the College of Medicine and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Members in the Cell Engineering area at the University of Florida area have broad-ranging interests including fundamental studies in the areas of biomolecular, nuclear and cellular mechanics, developing new engineering strategies for cell control and new, smart biomaterials for modulating cell function.
Members in the Regenerative Medicine area are focused on applying cell engineering strategies and developing new approaches for developing engineering tissues, whether in vitro or at targeted sites within the body.
The educational mission of ICTSE is to train engineers and scientists to engage and succeed in multidisciplinary research. Students are exposed to ideas and techniques that normally lie outside the scope of their core disciplines.
