Entrepreneur in Residence

The Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) program at the University of Florida’s Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering supports the College’s Building the New Engineer initiative. The program places experienced professionals to campus to mentor and guide Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering faculty and student entrepreneurs become more innovative and successful in starting, operating, and leading companies. The EIRs hands-on approach draws upon proven strategies and tactics for accelerating innovation and training entrepreneurs to be effective, successful leaders in their companies. EIRs help faculty and student entrepreneurs develop and commercialize products while advising senior management teams on the best practices to create and maintain sustainably profitable operations.

Mr. Michael Cottmeyer is the founder and CEO of LeadingAgile and a proud UF engineering alumnus. Mike spent the early years of his career working in Network Engineering and progressed into Project Management and consulting. He is passionate about solving the challenges associated with agile in larger, more complex enterprises. He has almost 20 years of project management and consulting experience.

Mike founded LeadingAgile, a fast growing consulting/advisory company headquartered in Atlanta in 2010. In February 2016, LeadingAgile achieved the rank of #3 on the Gator100. The Gator100 recognizes and ranks the fastest growing Gator-owned or Gator-led companies.. Mike and his team were recognized on campus for LeadingAgile’s success and his entrepreneurial spirit and University of Florida legacy. The company has grown from zero revenues to a projected $20M in revenues in 2016. LeadingAgile has been ranked in the Inc. 500 list of fastest growing companies in America.
