The process for adding and editing posts is similar to pages, but posts do not appear in site navigation unless you add them to a navigation menu<\/a>. Posts are best for time-based content like news articles.<\/p>\n

Create a New Post<\/h2>\n

From the dashboard, choose Posts > Add New.<\/p>\n

Enter a Post Title. This should be short, but descriptive.<\/p>\n

The post will use the classic editor by default, but you can also choose to use the block editor<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Edit your content<\/a> and set your post categories and\/or tags to organize content and make it easier for visitors to find.<\/p>\n

Set Publishing Options and Publish, Preview, or Save Draft in the Publish pane.<\/p>\n

Edit a Post<\/h2>\n

To edit an existing post, you have two options:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. In the dashboard, choose Posts > All Posts, then scroll or search through the list to select the post you want to edit. NOTE: You must use this option if your site has a mapped domain.<\/strong> Your site has a mapped domain if the URL for the front end is different from the dashboard, e.g. mysite.ufl.edu for the front end vs. ufl.edu\/mysite\/wp-admin for the dashboard.<\/li>\n
  2. While logged into WordPress, navigate to the post on the front end (as a site visitor would) and choose Edit Post from the admin bar at the top of the browser window. NOTE: If your site has a mapped domain, this option will give you an error. You must use option 1.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Edit your content<\/a>, then select Update in the Publish pane.<\/p>\n

    Post Options<\/h2>\n

    In the Post Options meta box, add Title Override Text if you want the title displayed at the top of the page to differ from what is shown in the archive list. Select “Full Width Featured Image” to display a 100% width version of the Featured Image when the post is viewed (half width is default), or choose “Hide Featured Image” to keep it from displaying at all within the post.<\/p>\n

    If you wish to have the post thumbnail display as a hero image header background, choose “Post Hero Image” and then use the dropdown to select vertical size of the header.<\/p>\n

    Latest Posts Slider Options<\/h2>\n

    If you are using the latest posts slider<\/a>, you will see a meta box that allows you to set Button Text for the link from the home page slider to the post, an option to display a Full Width Image in the slider (half width is default), and an option to Disable Image Captions on slider images.<\/p>\n

    Excerpt<\/h2>\n

    Excerpts are optional, but they improve your site’s search engine optimization, and they are the summaries your site visitors see when your posts come up in search engine results.<\/p>\n

    Featured Image<\/h2>\n

    Set a featured image, if desired. This will show up in the post, on archive pages, and in the Latest Posts slider if you have that enabled on your site.<\/p>\n

    If you wish this post to automatically link to other content on your site or an external website, select \u201cA custom URL\u201d\u00a0 under Page Links To and enter the URL.<\/p>\n
