{"id":9977,"date":"2024-01-12T14:28:36","date_gmt":"2024-01-12T19:28:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.eng.ufl.edu\/marcom-dev\/?page_id=9977"},"modified":"2025-09-23T15:22:49","modified_gmt":"2025-09-23T20:22:49","slug":"customizer-theme-options","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.eng.ufl.edu\/marcom\/resources\/web-services-standards\/wordpress-help-and-how-to\/mercury\/customizer-theme-options\/","title":{"rendered":"Customizer &#038; Theme Options"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Customizer is where you can change many of your site settings. <strong>To view the Customizer<\/strong>, visit your site dashboard and choose Appearance &gt; Customize from the menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Customizer gives you access to the following areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Site Identity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Change the site title and tagline<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add a footer image, if a different image from the site logo is desired in the footer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add up to 2 optional offsite links that appear in the header (e.g. for your unit&#8217;s parent organizations)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add a site icon<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Alternate Logo Section<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Select &#8220;Display Alternate Logo&#8221; if you want to have text (such as your site title) display alongside a smaller logo image<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The UF monogram displays in this space by default unless another image is uploaded.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Social Media<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Enter your unit&#8217;s social media URLs. Leave blank to disable display of that logo\/link.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Social media account links will display in the site footer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Menus<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Create or edit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eng.ufl.edu\/marcom\/resources\/web-services-standards\/wordpress-help-and-how-to\/mercury\/navigation-menus\/\">navigation menus<\/a> and choose where they display.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Widgets<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Create <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eng.ufl.edu\/marcom\/resources\/web-services-standards\/wordpress-help-and-how-to\/mercury\/widgets\/\">widgets<\/a> and choose where they display. (Most widget settings are not enabled in the Customizer.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"homepage\">Homepage Settings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Choose which pages you want to display as your home page and posts (news) page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"custom-css\">Additional CSS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To add your own CSS styles to augment or override theme styles, choose Customize &gt; Additional CSS.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Customizer is where you can change many of your site settings.
