Five years ago, the 110-year-old University of Florida College of Engineering joined the ranks of other prestigious higher education institutions in the country in becoming a college named after its benefactor, and became the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering. On October 1st, 2015, Dr. Herbert and Nicole Wertheim and the Herbert & Nicole Wertheim Family Foundation gave a $50 million gift that catalyzed a $300 million public-private partnership, leveraging support from the state, the university and from private donors to bring about the biggest transformation in the history of our college.
