Vobile, the worldwide leading Software-as-a-Service provider in digital content protection and monetization, announced on April 21 the opening of a new R&D and Operations Center in Gainesville, FL, home to more than 75,000 college students between the University of Florida and Santa Fe College. This strategic move is part of the company’s rapid growth initiatives. This is the first step in Vobile’s plan to create hundreds of jobs in Gainesville.

“We have chosen Gainesville, FL as our next center for innovation and product development because of its proximity to the University of Florida (UF) Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering and the top talent produced there,” said Yangbin Wang (MSEE, ’93), CEO of Vobile. “In addition, UF has made significant investments in artificial intelligence (AI) research and a commitment to students being AI proficient before graduation. Our new office will focus on our continued hiring efforts to secure the talent required to execute our growth strategy.”

Mr. Wang is the founder and CEO of Vobile. He has led Vobile’s growth through continuous product innovation, business development, and strategic acquisitions. Mr. Wang earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Florida and a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Zhejiang University.

“There is little doubt that AI and machine learning is changing the way we conduct business today,” said Cammy R. Abernathy, Ph.D., Dean of the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering. “And yet, even before its full potential is recognized by the business community as a whole, our esteemed alumnus, Yangbin, has already shown the world how it can transform an entire industry with his brainchild, Vobile. Today, with UF and our college fully committed to creating the most AI-enabled workforce in the world, we are delighted to welcome Vobile to Gainesville, where top-notch AI and engineering talent is right at its doorstep.”

“With more than 6,000 students currently enrolled in AI or data science classes and a broad-based initiative to integrate AI across the university’s entire curriculum, UF is developing a strong talent pipeline for companies such as Vobile that are increasingly moving or expanding into Florida,” said Joe Glover, UF’s provost and senior vice president for academic affairs. “Vobile’s decision to announce a new office in Gainesville’s Innovation District will be a win – not only for the company – but for our students, for the Gainesville community and for the state.”

“The Greater Gainesville Chamber is proud to work with Vobile in their efforts to open a location here as it solidifies our AI Central Initiative to establish North Central Florida as a national and global hub for artificial intelligence. We are honored to work with our University of Florida leadership to align with the needs of industry and talent development, said Staci Bertrand, VP of Economic Development, Greater Gainesville Chamber.

Vobile offers comprehensive Software-as-a-Service solutions powered by AI technologies to the media entertainment industry, such as digital content copyright protection and monetization. Its new Gainesville office is located in the Gainesville Innovation District. The property is within walking distance to the University of Florida campus and downtown Gainesville.
