Title:
ABE Biocomplexity Engineering seminar:”How Soil Properties Shape Plant and Ecosystem Response to Drought”
Bio:
Mathieu Javaux is a professor at UCLouvain (Belgium) and a senior researcher at Forschungszentrum Jülich (Germany). His research focuses on soil–plant–water interactions, with particular emphasis on plant hydraulics, drought response, and the integration of mechanistic processes into crop and ecosystem models. He combines experimental approaches, field observations, and modelling to understand how soil properties and plant traits jointly control water uptake and transpiration across scales. His work contributes to improved predictions of drought impacts on agricultural and natural ecosystems.
