Bio:
Dr. Vivek Sharma is an Assistant Professor and Precision Water Management Specialist in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering at the University of Florida. He earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and his B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering from Punjab Agricultural University, India. Dr. Sharma’s research focuses on precision agricultural water management, including irrigation scheduling, soil moisture sensing, crop water productivity, and the impact of climate variables on crop performance. He integrates field-level observations with remote sensing and GIS modeling to inform regional-scale water management decisions. His extension work promotes practical, cost-effective tools and technologies that help producers and stakeholders improve water use efficiency, reduce agricultural water use, and minimize impacts on water quality.
