“Waves That Prevent Foundation Failure”
Dr. Khiem Tran
Associate Professor, Clarkson University
Novel 2D and 3D waveform tomography methods will be presented for high resolution (1m scale) characterization of soil/rock/concrete media – cases of sinkholes, abandoned mines, and unknown foundation elements from surface wave measurements are shown. Wave analyses of structural components with embedded sensors (strain and accelerometer) undergoing dynamic impact loading are analyzed for their static response and compared to full scale static load test results.
