Dr. Jeff Waters is the Chief of the US Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s (ERDC) Coastal Observations & Analysis Branch located at the Field Research Facility in Duck, NC. Jeff received his PhD from the University of New Orleans in 2000 where he investigated the fate and transport of estuarine sediments in the Lake Pontchartrain Basin, LA. He completed a Postdoctoral research project sponsored by the NASA Johnson Space Center and the University of Houston where he evaluated the use of satellite imagery to quantify sediment transport processes in Galveston Bay, TX. In 2005, Dr. Waters joined the ERDC’s Coastal & Hydraulics Lab (CHL) and served as a Program Manager for the Regional Sediment Management Program and the National Shoreline Erosion Control Development and Demonstration Program. Since 2008, he has been a Branch Chief at CHL first with the Coastal Engineering Branch and since 2013, with the Coastal Observation & Analysis Branch located at the Field Research Facility in Duck, NC. He is also currently the Program Manager of the Coastal Field Data Collection Program and the Coastal Ocean Data Systems Program. Dr. Jeffery P. Waters will explain the mission, goals and activities carried out at the FRF. Located on the Atlantic Ocean near the town of Duck, North Carolina the FRF is an internationally recognized coastal observatory. Dr. Waters will talk for about 30 minutes and additional 15 minutes will be reserved for questions and discussion.
