Among the CAREER awardees for 2016 are three UF Engineering professors leading interdisciplinary efforts within several of the College’s strategic research areas:
Engineering the Brain
Aysegul Gunduz, J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering, works with clinicians and surgeons at the McKnight Brain Institute to treat neurological disorders with responsive deep brain stimulation.
Human Centered Computing
Lisa Anthony, Department of Computer & Information Science & Engineering, collaborates with the College of Education to optimize user interfaces for children, so that kids are excited – not frustrated – to learn from technology.
Resilient Coastal Communities
Maitane Olabarrieta, Engineering School of Sustainable Infrastructure & Environment, develops advanced numerical models for a group of scientists at UF that analyze coastal systems to better predict and prepare for storm events and sea level rise.
