Dr. Herbert “Herbie” Wertheim returned to campus in October to mark a defining milestone: 10 years since the college was renamed in his honor. The celebration showcased the college’s research breakthroughs in AI, security, sustainability and connectivity; innovative learning through immersive, hands-on experiences in the Herbert Wertheim Laboratory for Engineering Excellence; and its critical impact on Florida’s workforce and economic development.
Wertheim’s visionary $50 million gift catalyzed a $300 million public-private partnership and launched the most significant transformation in the college’s history. What began as a bold investment in engineering research and education has grown into a legacy of discovery and student experiences built for real-world impact. A decade later, the college honors the moment that changed its trajectory and moves ahead with future-ready confidence. Relive the celebration!
