UF and Progress Energy officials dedicated its recent solar project during a ceremony outside Weil Hall – home to the College of Engineering.

The solar project, funded by Progress Energy’s SunSense program, includes a 100-kilowatt solar system with three separate installations at the Microbiology Building, Rinker Hall and Energy Park in SW Gainesville.

A kiosk displaying information from the panels has been installed outside Weil Hall.

“It makes visible to the entire campus — and of course, because it’s next to the stadium, the entire Gator Nation — what engineers actually do,” said Cammy Abernathy, dean of the engineering college.
