The #78 Nuclear Clean Air Energy car and its IZOD IndyCar driver Simona De Silvestro were on campus promoting STEM education and careers in the energy industry.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The College of Engineering and race team sponsor AREVA, Inc. organized the event, along with members of the local Women In Nuclear (WIN) chapter. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cAt AREVA, we understand that for the energy sector to succeed, a highly skilled workforce is essential,\u201d said Dryden. \u201cOur clean energy present and future depend on a robust, talented pool of highly skilled engineers, which is why we are so fortunate to partner with the University of Florida to help sustain our industry and develop the next generation of leaders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0This event marked the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eng.ufl.edu\/news\/gator-engineering-to-provide-talent-for-sears-holdings-technology-pipeline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">second time<\/a> in two days that industry leaders partnered with UF, hoping to recruit engineering students. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cWe are committed to producing scientists and engineers who can lead the global quest to find clean, sustainable and safe energy solutions,\u201d said Cammy Abernathy. \u201cWe are pleased to work with AREVA in this endeavor, and in engaging the community in a broader dialogue that encourages STEM education.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.alligator.org\/news\/campus\/article_c01d25f8-9111-11e2-b5ba-001a4bcf887a.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Click here to read more<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GAINESVILLE, FLA \u2013 Amid a sea of bicycles and pedestrians, a racecar and its driver made a pitstop on the North Lawn yesterday afternoon.
