GAINESVILLE, Fla. \u2013- College of Engineering graduates William L. \u201cTrey\u201d Lauderdale, III, and Agapitus \u201cAugi\u201d Lye were recipients of the University of Florida\u2019s Outstanding Young Alumni Awards on Saturday at Emerson Alumni Hall.<\/p>\n
The Outstanding Young Alumni Award, established by UF\u2019s Alumni Association, recognizes alumni ages 35 or younger who have distinguished themselves in their profession and community.<\/p>\n
William L. \u201cTrey\u201d Lauderdale III<\/strong><\/p>\n Trey is a two time gator graduate, holding degrees in industrial and systems engineering and entrepreneurship.\u00a0 Upon graduating, Trey began working at Florida Power & Light in the transmissions and distribution business unit, where he led a team to create a new statistical method for tracking power outages and their correlation with weather patterns in the state of Florida.\u00a0 In 2007, Trey joined Emergin as the areas sales manager of the Florida territory, making an immediate impact and being promoted within six months to regional sales manager of the Southeast. Trey was one of the top business development employees at Emergin and was the top revenue producer in the first and second quarter of 2008. Trey left Emergin in August of 2008 to form Voalt\u00e9, a smartphone communication company dedicated to streamlining communication between doctors and nurses to more effectively serve patients in hospital settings. Currently, Voalte employees over 60 employees in the state of Florida and has deployed 1,000 iPhones to top medical institutions such as Massachusetts General, Cedars-Sinai, and Texas Children’s Hospital. They recently closed a $6 million strategic investment and plan on doubling in size in 2013.<\/p>\n Agapitus \u201cAugi\u201d Lye<\/strong><\/p>\n A graduate of the University of Florida with dual degrees in computer engineering and electrical engineering, Augi has founded numerous startups with over $20 million in angel and venture capital funding.<\/p>\n \u00a0His research in acoustical physics and vision processing was the foundation for ToneRite, Accelerond and Trendy Entertainment.
