Castillo-Torres,Keisha2015 Robert C. Pittman NIMET Fellow
Ph.D. Student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
B.S., University of Puerto Rico

Keisha obtained her B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering (focused in Digital Signal Processing) at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez (UPRM). Her first research experiences were at UPRM in the Digital Signal Processing (DSP) area, including a project in collaboration with the Raytheon Company. Keisha has also participated in research experiences for undergraduates (REU) at 1) the Robotics Laboratory within the Quality of Life Technology Center at the University of Pittsburgh, and 2) the Neural Interface Technology for Research and Optimization (NITRO) Laboratory within the Biomedical Engineering Department at University of Wisconsin-Madison. Also, she participated in a co-op experience at the NASA Ames Research Center. Currently, Keisha is a graduate assistant within the Interdisciplinary Microsystems Group (IMG) and the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at the University of Florida. Keisha is working, under Dr. Arnold’s guidance, with micro/nanofabrication technology, specifically fabrication of magnetic microdisc bioassay to explore the possibility of biofunctionalizing these magnetic microdiscs and using them to detect food pathogens.

Keisha’s research interests include biomedical applications, digital signal processing, and applied electromagnetics.
