Nano-Innovators Panel

Nano-Innovators Panel:   –  Zoom: Link

This year we have invited three nano-innovators from industry to come speak to us about their work and to answer questions from the audience.

Dr. Dominik Ziegler

CTO and Founder

Bio: He is the CTO of Nanosurf, and Founder of Scuba Probe Technologies: received his PhD from ETH Zurich and has 20 years of experience in designing and processing micro/nano electromechanical systems (MEMS). During his PhD and Postdoctoral Fellowship at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory he developed advanced scanning probe instrumentation including imaging techniques for more sensitive and reliable measurement of electrical surface potentials at the nanometer scale.  As CTO at Nanosurf he is currently directing all research and development efforts in one of the world’s leading scanning probe microscopy companies.

Scuba Probe Technologies

Scanning probe microscopy is essential for providing structural and functional imaging at the nanoscale but its limitations when operating in liquids preclude it from reaching its full potential to visualize and elucidate nanoscience processes at the molecular level. Scuba Probe Technologies removes these limitations with more reliable and higher performance probes that have a dramatic impact on nanoscale research. Scuba Probe Technologies cantilevers empower researchers and scientists to accelerate underwater nanoscience. Applications exist in medicine, energy solutions, materials science, biology, electrical characterization, and more.

Dr. Matthew Hull

President & Owner

Bio: Matthew Hull is the President and Owner of NanoSafe, Inc., a provider of nanotechnology human and environmental health and safety (EHS) services he founded in 2007. For more than a decade, Hull has been an active part of the emerging nanotechnology EHS landscape. In 2009, Hull co-edited the book ‘Nanotechnology Environmental Health and Safety: Risks, Regulation, and Management’, (Elsevier, London), which is currently in its Third Edition. Hull was
previously appointed by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) to serve on the Nanotechnology Technical Advisory Group (nTAG) to the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST).

NanoSafe

NanoSafe helps clients in business, government agencies, and academic institutions manage emerging nanotechnology environmental health and safety (EHS) risks. Our service areas address critical needs of nanotechnology-enabled industries. Today, NanoSafe remains committed to the promise of sustainable nanotechnology. Since our inception, we have focused on taking a disciplined and rational scientific approach to understanding and managing nanotechnology EHS risks, and this guiding principle is at the core of every project we undertake.

Alex Titov, PhD

Lab Manager

Bio:

Alex Titov is a graduate of University of Florida. In his role today as lab manager, Alex helps NanoPhotonica leverage nanotechnology and innovative nanomaterials to create high-resolution, efficient electronic displays at a significantly reduced cost. NanoPhotonica is revolutionizing how quantum dots and other next-generation nanomaterials are used in display. Nanophotonica’s innovations in nano-material chemistry, as well as processing and layering techniques for Quantum Dot Light Emitting Diodes (QLEDs), set us apart from all other related display technologies.

NanoPhotonica

NanoPhotonica provides innovative nano-materials and fabrication techniques that enable electronic displays to have high resolution, pure, vivid colors, and high efficiency at significantly reduced manufacturing cost. NanoPhotonica’s system of light emitting nano-materials, including Quantum Dots (QDs), and method of layering these materials together, form the core technology for a new generation of electronic displays. NanoPhotonica’s award-winning nano-materials, outstanding and motivated team, and effective growth strategy have gained us world-wide recognition and caught the eye of several large display manufacturers who have become our development collaborators. Together, we are bringing “Quantum Dot-Light Emitting Diode (QLED)” displays to this large and important market – from smartphones, to tablets and notebooks, to TVs.
