Brett obtained his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Physics at the University of Florida.  Currently, he is  working to earn his doctoral degree under Dr. Mark Sheplak in the Interdisciplinary Microsystems Group.   Brett plans to design, build, and test a Cauchy-Euler three-dimensional stress sensor. This device, capable of measuring normal pressure and shear stress at the same location, will have applications in fluid mechanics and biomechanics. This type of research interests me because it involves designing the sensor using different computer programs and methods of analysis, fabricating the sensor in the Nanoscale Research Facility, and performing hands-onexperiments to ensure that it functions properly. I am extremely excited to get started! Go gators!
