{"id":470,"date":"2015-12-08T10:47:55","date_gmt":"2015-12-08T16:47:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.eng.ufl.edu\/nimet\/?page_id=470"},"modified":"2026-03-12T10:28:58","modified_gmt":"2026-03-12T14:28:58","slug":"nimet-fellowship","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.eng.ufl.edu\/nimet\/education\/nimet-fellowship\/","title":{"rendered":"NIMET Fellowship"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The institute can offer several<strong> Robert C.&nbsp;Pittman Nanoscience Institute for Medical and Engineering Technology (NIMET)&nbsp;Fellowships<\/strong>&nbsp;to qualified graduate students.&nbsp;The objectives of this fellowship program are&nbsp;to support the recruitment of outstanding graduate students and to facilitate the initiation of inter-college NIMET-related&nbsp;research on campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each <strong>NIMET Fellow<\/strong> will receive a one-time award of $6,000, which is intended to provide financial support and enable students to\u00a0travel\u00a0to attend research conferences and other research-related activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>NIMET\u00a0Fellow<\/strong>\u00a0recipient must satisfy the following requirements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Must have applied to (or be actively enrolled in) a Ph.D. program in the College of Engineering<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Establish a supervisory committee that\u00a0is co-chaired by one faculty member from the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering and one from a different college (e.g., College of Medicine, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, etc.). A prospective\u00a0committee should be identified by the end of the first year and finalized by the end of the second year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work on a research project related to the mission\u00a0of the institute<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend all NIMET events and activities (e.g., NIMET meetings, seminars, and symposia)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Newly admitted Ph.D. students will be contacted in February or March about the application process for these research institute fellowships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A list of existing and prior <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eng.ufl.edu\/nimet\/people\/students\/nimet-fellows\/\">NIMET Fellows<\/a> demonstrates the diversity and excellence of the applicants for these competitive fellowships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interested students must complete the following form for consideration as a research institute fellow:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eng.ufl.edu\/graduate\/prospects\/funding\/institute-fellowship-opportunities\/research-institute-fellowship-interest-form\/\">Research Institute Fellowship Interest Form<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The institute can offer several Robert C.&nbsp;Pittman Nanoscience Institute for Medical and Engineering Technology (NIMET)&nbsp;Fellowships&nbsp;to qualified graduate students.&nbsp;The objectives of this fellowship program are&nbsp;to support the recruitment of outstanding graduate students and to facilitate the initiation of inter-college NIMET-related&nbsp;research on campus.
