{"id":454,"date":"2015-03-31T20:33:47","date_gmt":"2015-03-31T20:33:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.eng.ufl.edu\/labsafety\/?page_id=454"},"modified":"2024-12-03T14:42:23","modified_gmt":"2024-12-03T18:42:23","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.eng.ufl.edu\/safety\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mission Statement<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The mission of the Engineering Laboratory Safety Office is to establish a comprehensive guidance plan for Principal Investigators to follow, which will identify hazards, mitigate risks, ensure compliance and foster a positive culture of safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Engineering Laboratory Safety Office strives to CONNECT, not inspect the labs. *CONNECT means: <strong>C<\/strong>heck-In, <strong>O<\/strong>ffer Help, get to k<strong>N<\/strong>ow the labs, introduce <strong>N<\/strong>ew programs, <strong>E<\/strong>valuate hazards, <strong>C<\/strong>orrect concerns (non-punitive), <strong>T<\/strong>out (identify and recognize\/reward best practices). The aim is to promote managing safety using the 3 E\u2019s: Evaluate hazards, Ensure compliance and Enhance safety culture. To do this, the focus will be on your research, processes, equipment and protocols.
