(Bradenton, Fla., Oct. 18, 2016) \u2014 State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will host an additional information session Oct. 26 in North Port for students interested in the University of Florida Gator Engineering at SCF program. Applications are due by Nov. 1 for the Fall 2017 semester. Students should apply directly to the University of Florida.<\/p>\n
The information session will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26 at the Morgan Family Community Center, 607 W. Price Blvd, North Port.<\/p>\n
Gator Engineering at SCF is a collaborative program with the University of Florida (UF) Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering, State College of Florida, and The Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation. The new program develops a pathway for students to be admitted to UF\u2019s Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering while starting their education at SCF. The students take their coursework at SCF until they complete all of their necessary math and science courses and then move to the UF campus to continue their engineering education.<\/p>\n
The program, with its smaller class sizes and supportive cohort of fellow students, offers many advantages. Students receive dedicated support with an SCF advisor and access to UF departmental advisors within the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering. The UF Innovation Station Sarasota County also offers opportunities for internships and engagement with local employers.<\/p>\n
The information session will be presented by representatives from SCF and UF.<\/p>\n
