Intern/Research Abroad

If you want international experience and see the world, as well as use those skills you’ve been working so hard to acquire and continue to grow professionally in your field of expertise, then you should consider an internship or research abroad!

  • UF in Haifa: Engineering Entrepreneurship and Internship
    • UF in Haifa is a 10-week, 6-credit program that combines study and internship experience for undergraduate students in Haifa, Israel. This program is a partnership with Technion Israel Institute of Technology. Students will take EGN 4641 Engineering Entrepreneurship online through UF, and participate in an internship at the same time. Technion will coordinate the internship placement for students in high-tech start-up companies closely related to their field of study. This program will contribute 6 credit towards toward the Engineering Innovation minor for undergraduates, or 3 credits toward the Engineering Entrepreneurship Certificate for graduate students. These credits can also count as technical electives towards the students’ major.
      Scholarships are offered through the UF HWCOE Kemerait Internationalization Fund to engineering undergraduates with GPA above 3.0. 
  • UF in Aachen Summer Undergraduate Research Program
    • The UF in Aachen Summer Undergraduate Research Program at RWTH Aachen University fosters research partnerships between qualified undergraduates from top US and Canadian universities and research faculties at our university. The 10-week program is specifically designed for students who wish to attain hands-on experience in fundamental research at one of the top universities of science and technology worldwide. Students may apply to projects listed on the database here.
      Selected UF students will be awarded a scholarship of €1850 from RWTH Aachen to supplement their living expenses abroad. 

  • RISE (Research Internships in Science and Engineering)
    • RISE is a program of the German Academic Exchange Service. It is a summer internship program for undergraduate students from the United States, Canada and the UK in the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences and engineering. RISE offers unique opportunities for Bachelor students to work with research groups at universities and top research institutions across Germany for a period of 2 to 3 months during the summer. RISE interns are matched with doctoral students whom they assist and who serve as their mentors. The working language will be English. All scholarship holders receive stipends of €750  from the DAAD to help cover living expenses, while partner universities & research institutes provide housing assistance.
  • Nakatani RIES: Research & International Experiences for Students
    • Excellent opportunity for freshman and sophomore students! The Nakatani RIES: Research & International Experiences for Students Fellowship connects undergraduates with the best of science & engineering research in the U.S. or Japan. U.S. Fellows can apply to spend up to 13 weeks in Japan in summer from mid-May to mid-August. All expenses are paid by the program, including airfare.
  • McGill University Summer Undergraduate Research in Engineering
  • University of Michigan International Research Experiences for Undergraduates (iREU) in Paris – Optical Science
  • AMGEN Scholars Japan
  • AMGEN Scholars at Karolinska Institute Sweden 
  • International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE)
    • The IAESTE Internship Placement Program matches U.S. university students majoring in technical fields with paid internships abroad. Positions are available in industry, research institutes and universities, consulting firms, labs, and other work environments. There is an application fee of $75 and a program fee of $700. Selected students will be paid a salary by the overseas employers to cover basic living expenses and the amount varies from country to country.
