Personal Development

Success in higher education is affected in large part based on the student’s ability to develop a healthy and supportive cohort of peers upon entrance into the university.  Personal development activities included as part of the  program are intended to build a sense of espirit de corps among the participants and the mentors, as well as, strengthen the bond and sense of family among the cohort.  Personal development activities include team building activities, a personal fitness course, social activities and other group development activities.  In addition to focusing on academic course work, student participants spend an inordinate amount of time with the group and within their smaller teams.  Personal development activities allow STEPUP students to expand their network of personal resources and to become a resource themselves for their peers.
