SURF 2021 Update

With the ongoing response and uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, we will be hosting SURF virtually at the University of Florida for Summer 2021. If you have any questions regarding this information please reach out to Mike Nazareth, the Director of SURF, at or Brittany Boyer, Program Coordinator, at

The SURF program entails a 10 week Summer Undergraduate Research experience at the University of Florida strictly for students planning to enroll Ph.D. to UF. Prospective Ph.D. students for the University of Florida for the fall 2022 term will be considered for SURF. Participating Colleges include the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the College of Pharmacy, and the College of Health and Human Performance. SURF provides the opportunity to work with a premier faculty adviser and a senior Ph.D. student mentor. Students will engage in research and spend in-depth time furthering their path to applying and enrolling in a Ph.D. program at the University of Florida. All participants will be eligible to receive preferred Ph.D. admission and fellowship offers provided they have a successful summer experience and maintain their level of high academic performance through the completion of their bachelor’s degree. All costs for SURF participants are paid by UF including a $5,000 summer stipend, summer workshops, social events/activities and a GRE test prep course.

SURF 2022 for the Fall 2023 Ph.D. enrollment term will be held from May 28, 2022, till August 5, 2022.
