All official student offers for Summer 2026 will be sent by individual Engineering REU programs at the University of Florida. REU offers can vary by program, but a typical offer may include:
- 10-week summer undergraduate research internship beginning May 23, 2026
- ~$5,000 – $7,000 student stipend
- Travel costs to Gainesville, FL
- Round-trip airfare
- Mileage/summer parking pass for participants who drive to UF
- Opportunity to work directly with one assigned faculty mentor on a unique undergraduate research program
- Assigned Ph.D. student mentor and/or Postdoc student mentor
- Workshops, Seminars, potential departmental/College academic enrichment activities, etc.
- Note: Students should not enroll in any classes while participating in SURF-REU programs at UF. Your time will be fully committed to research and the above activities

- Fall 2027 (or beyond) University of Florida Ph.D. Application Fee Waiver
- All 2026 SURF-REU participants are encouraged to apply to the Ph.D. at UF beginning with the Fall 2027 term, as some programs offer priority Ph.D. admission consideration to successful SURF-REU participants
