{"id":4075,"date":"2025-03-17T12:03:20","date_gmt":"2025-03-17T17:03:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.eng.ufl.edu\/undergraduate\/?p=4075"},"modified":"2026-05-21T08:43:42","modified_gmt":"2026-05-21T13:43:42","slug":"uf-civil-engineering-teams-dominate-in-georgia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eng.ufl.edu\/undergraduate\/2025\/03\/17\/uf-civil-engineering-teams-dominate-in-georgia\/","title":{"rendered":"UF civil engineering teams dominate in Georgia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Championships keep rolling in for University of Florida ASCE chapters, as student teams won first place overall earlier this month at the ASCE Southeast Student Symposium in Athens, Ga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cUF took first out of 19 universities,\u201d noted ASCE student chapter advisor Mark Newman, Ph.D. \u201cOur students also made more history as the first university in the region to win first place in Steel Bridge, Concrete Canoe, and Overall three years in a row. This means that both our Steel Bridge and Concrete Canoe teams will be advancing to nationals.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That is big news because those two UF teams are the reigning national champions, taking seven out of the last 10 national championships across the two competitions. The steel bridge team has won six titles \u2013 1997, 2015, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.
