Faculty who supervise students, particularly graduate research students, are invited to attend the Entering Mentoring/Research Mentor training Monday-Wednesday, June 16-18 via Zoom.
Participants who complete all three days of training will receive the book, The Elements of Mentoring: 75 Practices of Master Mentors.
The topics covered include:
- Introduction
- Aligning Expectations & Aligning Goals
- Effective Communications
- Assessing Understanding and Fostering Independence
- Mentoring Challenges / Leadership Style
- Addressing Cultural Competencies
- Ethics
- Elements of Good Mentoring / Developing a Mentoring Philosophy
Training will be approximately three to four hours each day with breaks. In order to have effective discussions during the breakout sessions, a minimum of 12 registrants is needed to hold the training.
