- Erin Jackson’s university-wide commencement speechErin Jackson (MSE ’15) gave the university-wide commencement speech at the ceremony on Friday, May 5. Jackson is an Olympic gold medalist, a history maker and a Gator. She won the women’s 500-meter race in speed skating in the 2022 Olympics in Beijing, becoming the first American to win that race since 1994 and the first Black American woman in history to win a Winter Olympic gold medal in an individual sport. Additionally, she graduated UF cum laude in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in materials science and engineering.

The University of Florida in London Smart Cities and Disability Access Program is uniting students and bridging gaps!
This program empowered students to explore disability access in London and harness technology's potential for an inclusive future.
During their stay, the students were immersed in a disability access journey. They explored accessible landmarks, attended empowering lectures, and delved into cutting-edge smart cities tech. From transport to stadiums, they witnessed the future of inclusive urban living.
This program also allowed students to see how smart technologies like Intelligent transport systems are being implemented in one of the oldest cities in the world, and how these technologies benefit London's citizens by providing better accessibility for all.
