The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering is proud to share that several of our faculty members have received the prestigious 2026 National Science Foundation (NSF) Early CAREER Awards.

The Robert Thieke Endowed Professorship was established in 2025 to honor Thieke upon his retirement after 35 years at UF.

Of the 2,500 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships awarded this academic year, 16 winners were Gator engineers from the University of Florida’s Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering.

The prestigious University of Florida Academy of Distinguished Teaching Scholars (ADTS) has a notable new member: Douglas E. Spearot, Ph.D., the interim chair of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. 

The University of Florida Research Foundation (UFRF) recently named 34 of the university’s most productive and promising faculty members as UFRF Professors for 2026. 

The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering on Thursday presented its annual awards to faculty, staff and students for the 2025-2026 academic year. These awards celebrate the excellence and fundamental values of our college. 

The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering this week honored four staff members and one faculty member with Superior Accomplishment Awards for their positive impact on engineering students. 

Michael Todd, an academic advisor in the Center for Student Excellence, has won the International Educator of the Year award from the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering.  

We’re proud to celebrate the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering alumni who were named to the 2026 Gator100, earning the distinction among the fastest-growing, Gator-led businesses worldwide. 

Computer science master’s student Joshita Arora and Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) master’s student Uthra Madhavan were among four UF students who won the Outstanding Master’s and Professional International Student Award.
