The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering on Thursday presented its annual awards to faculty, staff and students for the 2025-2026 academic year. These awards celebrate the excellence and fundamental values of our college. 

The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering this week honored four staff members and one faculty member with Superior Accomplishment Awards for their positive impact on engineering students. 

Michael Todd, an academic advisor in the Center for Student Excellence, has won the International Educator of the Year award from the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering.  

Computer science master’s student Joshita Arora and Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) master’s student Uthra Madhavan were among four UF students who won the Outstanding Master’s and Professional International Student Award.  

Two University of Florida engineering professors have been recognized among the nation’s top early-career researchers for their contributions to national defense and security. 

Farimah Farahmandi, Ph.D., Walden C. Rhines Endowed Professor for Hardware Security and associate director of the Florida Institute for Cybersecurity, has received UF’s 40 Under 40 alumni award. In April, Farahmandi will also receive the Distinguished Young Alumni Award from UF’s Department of Computer & Information Science & Engineering.  

Two faculty members from the University of Florida’s Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering have been named Senior Members of the National Academy of Inventors.

The academy, known as NAE, announced this week its 2026 membership roster includes Wally Rhines, CEO and director of Texas-based Silvaco and a member of multiple advisory boards within the University of Florida’s College of Engineering.    

Two online engineering graduate programs at the University of Florida made the Top 15 on U.S. News & World Report’s list of the 2025 Best Online Engineering Programs. 

Ana Maria Porras, Ph.D., an assistant professor in the J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Florida, has been named a 2026 Emerging Leader by the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE).
