Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering Programs on the Rise

The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering’s 12 engineering programs are in the top 20 rankings for public institutions in the U.S. News & World Report (USNWR) Best Graduate Schools report for 2020. While five disciplines maintained their rankings (Nuclear – No. 14, Mechanical – No. 16, Aerospace – No. 16, Computer – No. 16, Chemical – No. 19), seven others advanced to new heights.

• Within the Engineering School for Sustainable Infrastructure & Environment (ESSIE), civil engineering rose two points to No. 18, while environmental engineering rose four points to No. 20.
• The J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering has risen four points in the rankings for that discipline to No. 15.
• The Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering has advanced two points to the No. 12 position. The department is entering its 85^th year at the University of Florida.
• The Department of Materials Science & Engineering has moved higher in the select circle of Top 10 public institutions recognized by USNWR, as it climbed from No. 10 to No. 8. This year the trail-blazing department established by Dr.  Fred Rhines in 1959 celebrates its 60^th year.
• The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering is making a steady climb with a rise from No. 18 to No. 17 within the graduate program rankings.
