Two online engineering graduate programs at the University of Florida made the Top 15 on U.S. News & World Report’s list of the 2025 Best Online Engineering Programs.

In rankings released this week, the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering’s online master’s degree program — called EDGE — was ranked No. 15. Meanwhile, UF’s online master’s in electrical engineering program was ranked No. 13, tied with the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a public school, and the University of Southern California (Viterbi), a private school.

The news comes as no surprise to the programs’ students and faculty.

“UF EDGE, our online engineering master’s degree program, provides the opportunity for working professionals and our engineers serving in the military to have access to high-quality UF graduate education,” said Pam Dickrell, the College of Engineering’s associate dean for student affairs. “I think the main strength is that the structure of the program allows UF EDGE students worldwide access to the same graduate curriculum and exceptional UF faculty that our on-campus engineering students experience.”

U.S. News evaluates schools based on a variety of factors, such as student engagement, faculty credentials and services and technologies.

In its 14th year, the U.S. News Best Online Programs edition evaluates more than 1,800 online bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. The rankings include only degree-granting programs offered primarily online by accredited institutions.

As a whole, UF did well in this year’s ranking, with its online bachelor’s degree programs ranked No. 1 in the nation, reaffirming UF’s leadership in delivering high-quality, accessible education.

UF also ranked No. 1 for Best Online Bachelor’s in Business Programs and Best Online Bachelor’s Program for Veterans — highlighting the university’s strong support systems and commitment to military-connected students — and No. 3 for Best Online Bachelor’s in Psychology.
