Hassan Tanvir came to the University of Florida to pursue a Ph.D. in engineering education with a background unlike many in the department.

With a background deeply rooted in engineering, Taofeek Tejuosho is a fifth-year Ph.D. student in chemical engineering working to accelerate the design and development of polymer materials for diverse technological applications.

Hossein Bahreinizad’s journey from a small town in southern Iran to the forefront of traumatic brain injury research at the University of Florida is grounded in lifelong curiosity about the human body.  

Ashley Hart, a Ph.D. student in Computer Science, has been recognized as Mentor of the Year by the National Science and Technology Medals Foundation (NSTMF) for uplifting others through mentorship.  

With a background in mechatronics, Gustavo Paulon is a third-year Ph.D. student in industrial and systems engineering (ISE) working to design smarter, safer helmets for first responders.

Tanner Staggs, a Ph.D. student in the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department, develops novel algorithms to address large-scale network interdiction problems that strengthen infrastructure systems against disruptions and vulnerabilities.

Amirreza Saffarian, a third-year Ph.D. student in Industrial and Systems Engineering, develops optimization models to protect Florida’s wildlife, including the Florida panther. Originally from Iran, he’s earned top academic honors and enjoys hiking, soccer, and exploring new cultures.

Fabiola Y. Rodríguez, a first-year Ph.D. student at UF’s Engineering School of Sustainable Infrastructure and the Environment, is already making waves in sustainable waste management.

A proud resident of Gator Nation, Anany Sharma is part of the inaugural Artificial Intelligence Systems (AIS) master’s degree program in the Department of Engineering Education (EEd) in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering.

University of Florida graduate student Douglas Ta grew up in Central Florida with sports at the center of his youth. He played soccer and tennis and contends his time on those teams sharpened a competitive drive that serves him well as a Gator engineering student.
