OVERVIEW
The REEF BOT series delivers comprehensive, hands-on learning experience in autonomous systems development, 3D sensing, and advanced computer vision using the cutting-edge Jetson Orin platform. Participants begin by establishing their Jetson environment and mastering sensor fundamentals with an emphasis on camera systems. The curriculum progresses through Qt and OpenCV frameworks to develop sophisticated camera-based applications and explore essential image processing techniques including feature detection, camera pose estimation, and background modeling.
The program introduces industry-leading object detection and tracking using YOLO V5, then advances into 3D sensing technologies, VTK visualization, and the Point Cloud Library, where students implement advanced filters, clustering algorithms, and performance optimization strategies. The curriculum incorporates ROS 2.0 for seamless robotic communication and transitions into cutting-edge deep learning applications with YOLO 11, Ultralytics APIs, and professional tools including RoboFlow, PyTorch, and Colab for custom data labeling and model training.
Participants master model optimization for the Jetson platform using TensorRT, implement small object and multi-object tracking systems, and integrate GStreamer and DeepStream for real-time streaming capabilities. The series culminates in advanced applications such as Ortho Rectification for precision mapping, Multi Modal Fusion of depth data, and the development of custom ROS 2 Publishers and Listeners for transmitting highly optimized datasets suitable for diverse robotic applications.
For BOT 101, course equipment is accessible remotely via web/desktop interface, with potential for on-site access, ensuring flexible, high-impact engagement with cutting-edge robotics and computer vision technologies. For advanced courses, equipment is available for pickup from the REEF facility.
