Biography

Dr. Philip B. Jackson earned B.S. degrees in both Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical Engineering in 2004, an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 2006, and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in 2011, all from the University of Florida. He is currently an Instructional Assistant Professor in the University of Florida’s Department of Engineering Education. There he specializes in teaching undergraduate courses on mechanical dynamics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and engineering design. He also leads the Game-based Learning and Digital Experiences (GLaDE) laboratory for undergraduate researchers. The group focuses on the development of adaptive learning systems, virtual reality and augmented reality systems, and other digital tools to study their effect on student motivation, engagement, and performance.
