Dr. van Oostrom earned his M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands. Starting in 1998 he helped build the UF BME graduate program and served as the graduate coordinator for 7 years and as the associate chair.
