Damon Woodard is a UF professor of electrical and computer engineering and director of UF’s Applied Artificial Intelligence Group.

UF is expanding its successful pilot program, which aims to equip Florida youth with essential skills needed in an emerging AI-enabled workforce, to 12 school districts.

In June, the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering hosted the 46th annual Southeastern Conference for Minority Engineers (SECME) competition for middle and high school students from the Southeast region of the U.S. Participants from schools in Texas, Alabama, and Florida gathered on UF’s campus for SECME’s first in-person competition since 2019.

Eleven students from the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering, as well as nine alumni, were selected to receive awards from the National Science Foundation’s Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP).

The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida will host the 46th Annual SECME National Student contest on June 21-23, 2023, as part of the SECME mission to ensure all students belong in engineering.

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), including delegates from UF SHPE, recently visited the White House for a briefing on “Building the Next Generation of Hispanic Leaders in STEM.”

The student-run event, hosted by the Internet of Things (IoT) Students Club, focused on prioritizing mental health in academia.

For the last 28 years, the Integrated Product & Process Design (IPPD) program at the University of Florida has provided engineering students the opportunity to gain real-world, industry experience, and acts as a talent pipeline for industry sponsors.

For the second year in a row, UF’s online engineering master’s program solidified its position among the 10 best public institutions offering a virtual engineering graduate curriculum, as ranked by U.S. News & World Report in their most recent choice for “Best Online Programs.”
