The Engineering Leadership Institute in the UF Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering is pleased to announce that former Mayor of the City of Gainesville and current Associate Director of Conservation Finance for the Trust for Public Land, Pegeen Hanrahan* will be visiting campus on September 30-October 1, 2025 as the Fall 2025 Hudson Leader in Residence. The Institute established this Leader-in-Residence program in 2015 through the generous gift from Linda Parker Hudson* with the goal of nurturing UF engineering students and faculty into becoming world-class leaders by exposure to successful leaders from industry, government, and higher education. Pegeen Hanrahan’s multidisciplinary experience and leadership roles promise her visit as a HudsonLeader in Residence to be a truly educational and enriching experience for the Gator Engineering Community and beyond.
I am especially excited to invite students to Pegeen Hanrahan’s seminar and reception** on Wednesday, October 1, from 1:55-3:25 p.m. in the JWRU Chamber. While all are welcome to attend, Ms. Hanrahan will directly address students on topics that will include how her UF degrees and background inSociology and Engineering have benefitted her leadership roles, what are the characteristics of and responses to ethical challenges embodied by successful leaders, and the critical need for graduates to better understand and engage inthe regulatory and policy-making processes. Ms. Hanrahan will present her seminar with opportunity for questions and responses within the first hour of this time, with a reception to follow that will allow participants to speak directly with her.
